Cosmetic tattoo pigment is implanted into the most superficial layer of skin - the epidermis, just above the dermis. This layer of skin is constantly shedding and renewing itself, which causes permanent makeup pigments to fade over time.
With a traditional body tattoo, the ink is implanted
into a deeper layer of skin - the dermis. This holds the ink in place, with minor fading and lasts a lifetime.
